A little about Hawk Strong

Picture it....September 2005.  A group of friends who now all have season tickets begin to tailgate on occasion underneath the viaduct or at the very least wander down to the J&M for a few pre-game beverages at the back bar.  Slowly but surely we built up our tailgating prowess, adding more recipes and better beverages.  More people would join our little group and pretty soon we had the beginnings of a neighborhood.  Then starting in 2009 and continuing into the summer of 2010, we noticed that the city was beginning to take away tailgating spots at a very quick pace, presumably related to the tunnel that may or may not ever get built.  So, we had to find a new spot.  Also at this time, we began to have access to a motorhome which made the tailgating experience much more fun, but also more difficult to find a suitable spot in which we could park.  Then, on a sunny Sunday afternoon in September 2010, we stumbled upon an area that would change how we tailgated forever.

On Utah St. (a block west of 1st Ave. S. as you head south from Safeco Field) a multi-block stretch of alley turns into a tailgating spectacle on home Seahawk gamedays.  Tents, canopies, grills, music, food, beverages, chanting, and general revelry take place.  We park the motorhome and realize we've found our new place on Sundays.  Across the alley there's a roped off parking spot about 30 feet long.  We wonder what's going on with this.  We soon have our answer as the HawkOne RV rumbles down the alley.  A completely tricked out RV with satellite tv, 12th Man flag flying, full bar, and Seahawk memorabilia everywhere you look has now parked next to us.  Ultimately we become friends with these folks along with their entourage that travel with them and a true neighborhood of tailgating was born.

So, come on down to Hawk Alley on those Seahawk gamedays and join us.  We'll have tv's going to watch the pregame shows and the early games.  The grills will be going with competition-winning food.  We'll have a beverage or two to wash it down with.  Then we head to Seahawks Stadium (I won't call it CenturyLink field) to join with 67,000 of our closest friends and make earthquake-inducing noise as we root on the Hawks.  While they may lose the game, we'll never lose the party.
