The Spirit of 12 - Vision House Rumble Tumble Football Jumble

There is no doubt we have a great time tailgating on Seahawks game days, but true to our mission of engaging the community (the Spirit of 12) we were blessed to participate in the Vision House (www.vision-house.org  @nohomelesskids) Rumble Tumble Football Jumble. With the support of an amazing group of volunteers from Hawk Strong, Bethany Community Church North and the SnoCo Seahawkers, it was an incredible day cooking/serving lunch, running football drills, carnival games (including a 'refreshing' dunk tank) and sports activities for nearly 175 kids and families.

If you're not familiar with Vision House, we encourage you to take a few minutes to see the incredible work they do serving families in the Renton and Shoreline areas. Everyday Vision House provides
housing, counseling, child care, food, clothing, education/vocational training, life skills development and employment opportunities to single mothers and their children with the program of providing a lasting impact beyond the time spent at Vision House.

To use a phrase from our friends at Blue Line Express, it's about #TailgatingWithAPurpose. Thank you to Vision House, a remarkable group of kids, the Seattle Seahawks, Blitz, our volunteers, and our generous donors for making this event possible.

Week 2 Preview - Anchorman

So, there's supposed to be a Super Bowl hangover, huh?  If the Seahawks were hung over in that Green Bay game, I love to feel like that after our weekends at Oktoberfest in Leavenworth.  Last Thursday, the nation got a 3-hour long warning that the Seahawks are just as good, if not better, than they were last year.  I can certainly see why the NFL decided not to have more than 1 national tv game within the friendly confines of CenturyLink Field this year.  The league would like to keep the printing press known as tv revenue flowing, and beatdowns along the lines that the Seahawks administer at home aren't conducive to that.

Now, our beloved Birds of Renton make their way to San Diego for their first road game of the year.  You knew this movie would be used.  Really, there's no other movie that could be used for a game against the Chargers.  Let's see what Ron Burgundy's thinking concerning this Sunday's matchup.

Week 1 Preview - Tommy Boy

Is it me or did our shortest offseason in history feel like our longest?  Sure, there were plenty of things to occupy our time like a massive parade, watching the Hawks at the White House, scheming how we could get our hands on one of those Super Bowl rings.  But it still felt like February 2nd was about 18 months ago as opposed to just 7.  Regardless of how long it felt though, football is back!!  Our beloved Seahawks kick off the nation's most popular sport tonight and begin their defense of their Super Bowl championship.  I'll go out on a limb and guarantee the electricity inside CenturyLink Field will be unlike anything we've ever seen before.  I'll also guarantee that when that Super Bowl Championship banner is unfurled, the room's going to get a little dusty.  I refuse to be ashamed of the fact that I've openly wept at Seahawks games.  And I'll be damned if I'm going to be embarassed while shedding a tear as that banner is revealed to the 12th Man.  As many of you know, and as I wrote about at length a few months back, there was a chance I'd never to get to see a championship banner in my lifetime so I'm taking full advantage.

In any case, we have a game that counts in our midst, and that game must be previewed.  I'd love to link this in with either the Seahawks, the Packers, or football in general, but I can't.  But Tommy Boy is a darn funny movie and the quotes fit, so here we go.
